JUST REMEMBERED

I found a note that you wrote years ago
in the pocket of an old overcoat
you put it there once when you went away
even though you were only gone a day

you said you missed me terribly
without me you were incomplete
the note was signed with your perfect lips
it said: “sending all my love with this kiss”

instantly I was there
saw your face, smelled your hair

I just remembered how you stole my heart
just recalled how I fell for you
I do believe you’re a part of me
and that’s more than I can afford to lose

sorrow escapes me when I’m with you
the first time I looked into your eyes I knew
that you were meant for me, that we were meant to be
together, forever, it’s clear to see

I still feel the rush of love
when it’s you I’m thinking of
