Entrainment

Entrainment is a physics term that is used to explain that two objects moving together use less energy than two objects moving in opposite directions, so even when they are moving differently, if they are placed next to each other will, over time, begin to move together in synchronicity.

When a person listening to, or playing, music that has a regular pulse becomes completely “locked in” to the rhythm, we can say that entrainment has taken place. Both the mind and body are affected by this process: The mind becomes absorbed in the music and the body often moves with it.
