i just watched a video about the deep ocean
crazy creatures way down there
it's such a freaky and frightening place
stranger than anything you could make up
so, about this blog… to be honest, i’m getting pretty tired of it. i think i need to try something new.
what would i write if i abandoned all preconceptions about what writing is?
how would that even work? my brain needs to have a why. if i wrote with no purpose or meaning or reason… what would that even look like?
i don’t know if it’s possible to detach completely from everything you’ve learned your entire life about what writing is. it’s communication, or expression, or recording of information.
could it actually be something other than that?
it could be purely aesthetic - making patterns of the letters on a page. but even more abstract - like atonal music. free jazz. melody, harmony, structure all thrown out the window.
it’s not something that i would know how to approach. i would be thinking “is this any good”, and i would have no criteria to answer that. when i hear free jazz i don’t have a way of receiving it.
what would ‘free’ writing even be? would there be recognizable words?
i don’t think so.
