I went to hear music at two venues tonight: The Backroom, and The Ivy Room. Here are a few things I learned:

1) Turtlenecks might be making a comeback.

2) If you're a flautist, sitting in with a rock band at a nightclub is not a pipe dream. It actually happens.

3) The current so-out-it's-in beer seems to be Olympia.

4) The guys in the middle of a four man bobsled team are called side pushers (the olympics were on the TV above the bar).

5) People still yell "Freebird" at shows.
