When Isabelle was young she noticed that I always used the same spoon when I ate cereal. She liked the fact that I had a favorite - favorite things are big with little kids - it was something she could relate to: "Maybe this guy's OK, he's got a favorite spoon".

She would remind me to use it when we were having a meal, or sometimes she'd get it for me when she saw me getting cereal out.
