A little erratic

In middle school there was a kid named Bob Downey who was older than the rest of us. He must have been held back a couple times. He was known for being a little erratic. Acting strangely. Some people avoided him. Others made fun of him. He got teased a lot.

One day I decided to tease him, thinking I'd make my friends laugh. I can't remember what I said, but after I said it he punched me in the face. I was stunned. I'd never been punched in the face before. I’d never seen him react like that before. People gathered around, asking if I was OK. I didn't respond, I just walked away as fast as I could. My friends followed, with Bob right behind them, calling after me. My friends told him to go away and leave us alone.

Word got back to the principal, and we both got called into his office.

After that I never teased anyone.
